Welcome to Metamorphosis, a blog dedicated to the journey of turning one of my childhood dreams into a reality.
As a little girl, I loved dress up, make up and anything to do with fashion. This “Passion for Fashion” has only increased over the years. My Mother always said, “Elizabeth Fisher, you are lovable and capable, and can do anything that you set your mind to”. My mind is now made up and I am hoping to start my very own business as an Independent Image Consultant. My goal is to assist women in creating (or recreating) themselves . This transformation, or “Metamorphosis” as I like to call it, empowers women to become just exactly whom they desire. There are few things more special to me than seeing that “spark” or “a-ha moment” when a woman looks into the mirror and fully sees herself and her potential for the very first time.
Things have changed quite a bit since my old dress up play days ~ or the sizes have changed at least. I am now known to my closest friends as Ebeth, a name that was created LONG before Ebay or even the internet, but pronounced much the same. Following a whirlwind life of moving from place to place as a military spouse, I am finally settled back in my beloved home town of Chapel Hill, NC. Chapel Hill is my happy place and where my childhood dreams began. It is only appropriate that this is the place where I will be bringing these dreams to fruition.
Why the name Metamorphosis? You probably know the textbook definition regarding changes in a physical form or appearance. On the surface, that’s why I’ve chosen it to be the name of my business ~ I want to initiate change in women. Making small positive changes in one’s appearance often will spark positive changes in one’s spirit. The name, however, has a far more personal sentiment for me. My life has been little more than a constant state of change as you will see in my future posts. I have had to recreate both myself and my image countless times over the years and the name represents not only the physical transformations that I have gone through, but also emotional changes that have had to occur as a result. Lastly, on a less serious note, I wrote a piece of music to be performed at my 4th grade piano recital. I named it METAMORPHOSIS because it included a key change in the middle of the piece. I wanted something that sounded as sophisticated and unique as I imagined it to be…it seemed the obvious choice in choosing how I might brand myself and my business.
Why the Dragonfly as my logo? The dragonfly, much like the butterfly, goes through a metamorphic change. I have always been very fond of dragonflies, but it wasn’t until we moved to Okinawa, Japan that my love for them grew to what it is today. I learned how to predict the weather based on the flight pattern of the dragonfly. If they are flying low to the ground, you can be sure that a storm is soon to follow. The symbolism of the dragonfly perfectly embodies the sentiment of what I hope women are able to achieve once they begin their own period of transformation ~ maturity, depth of character, defeat of self created illusions, focus on living in the moment, prosperity, peace, strength, and harmony. The list goes on and on, but I think you’ve got the gist of what I’m hoping to achieve.
